Dental Dentures

Having functional teeth enhances your day to day life. Lets face it, people like eating. We eat for health, we eat to entertain, we eat to celebrate, and we even eat to cure boredom. If you have no healthy natural tooth structures remaining, we can help. Now, Dentures are a last resort. No one aspires to get dentures, but it does happen and we can help make it as comfortable for you as possible. Dentures can be uncomfortable, they are a foreign object in your mouth and they do not duplicate the same feel and function of your own natural teeth. At Jukka J. Perkiomaki, our goal is to help this transition be the best for you.

There are a couple options for dentures in a variety of materials, partial and full and these are available in a variety of ways. Dr. Perkiomaki will help you decide which is your best option.

Partial Dentures

Partial dentures are overall more comfortable. Partial dentures are held in place using metal clasps. They do require some healthy teeth to attach to but are more comfortable for chewing and talking versus full dentures.

If there are no healthy teeth to anchor, we may advise you to consider the placement of dental implants. There are pro's and con's to both dentures and dental implants. Let us help you determine if you are a candidate for a partial denture based on your gums and anchor teeth, or if implants would be a better solution for you.

Dentures - JJ Perkiomaki Dentist Portland, West Haven, & Sylvan, OR

Partial Dentures can help you:

•  restore some natural function to your teeth.
•  replace multiple missing teeth.
•  correct any bite issues.
•  correct jaw alignment issues.
•  help your existing teeth from shifting.
•  help reduce bone atrophy that comes with missing teeth.

Full Dentures

Full Denture are an option when there are no remaining healthy teeth. This removable prosthesis is made of plastic teeth that is set in a pink gum-colored plastic base. With this product you would purchase an over the counter denture adhesive to attach it to your gum ridge. Full Dentures are not the ideal choice for our patients, They are a life altering option.

However, dentures are more beneficial to you than no teeth. Dentures will change your daily diet and the variety of food you are able to eat. Patients also report a decrease in self-confidence during social situations. Talk to Dr. Perkiomaki about all options open to you for your situation, we want you to live a happy, long life with as much comfort as possible.

Full Dentures can help you:

•  by giving you imitation teeth when all natural teeth in the same arch are unhealthy or missing.
•  improve your face shape which changes dramatically when teeth are missing.
